Rava Ladoo Recipe | Diwali Ladoo Recipe | Diwali Sweets recipe

We celebrate Diwali to honor Lord Ram who is believed to have returned home after 14 returns of exile. In order to welcome the prince and celebrate his victory, the entire kingdom was lit with diyas and decorated with colorful rangolis. Since then, Diwali has become synonymous with the festival of lights, rangoli, gifts, and sweets. All those who have to stay away from home gear up for this day to celebrate the festival with their family and loved ones. However, amidst all the preparations there are still many who are not able to return home for the great Indian festival. Yet there’s no need to have a low spirit because you can still invite your friends at home and throw a Diwali party at your flat with sweetmeats that are easy to prepare and great to taste.

Preparing for Diwali gets all the more hectic when you are staying alone and away from your family. Right from decorating, inviting friends and colleagues, lighting up your room to preparing sweets becomes really hectic and by the time the great day arrives, you are very tired and left with a little enthusiasm to actually celebrate for the day. To boost up your morale we will discuss Rava ladoo recipe for Diwali celebration. It is really easy to make and does not leave you exhausted before the celebration begins.

Sooji or rava ladoo are sweet balls made from sooji or rava, sugar, and ghee. If you are health conscious and want to avoid ghee, replace the ghee with rice bran oil. To prepare rava ladoo roast rava in medium flame and do not allow it to stand unstirred. For making this ladoo, you first need to roast the sooji, stirring it continuously. Once the sooji is roasted the air is filled with its aroma. Powder cardamom and mix it together with sooji and sugar. Add some ghee and milk to bind the mixture into round ladoos.

Rava Ladoo Recipe

  • 1 cup sooji or rava
  • 4 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon full of ghee
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods (remove the skin and take only seeds)
  • 2-3 tablespoon full of milk
  • 2 tablespoon full of crushed cashew nuts
  • 1 tablespoon full of raisins

           Method of Preparation

Take a pan and heat 1 tablespoon of ghee on medium flame. When the ghee is hot add the sooji to roast it until a nice aroma fills your surroundings.  Stir it for around 6-7 minutes and to avoid it from getting burnt keep stirring the rava in the pan.  Once roasted allow it to cool down

  • Heat 1 teaspoon of ghee on medium flame and fry the cashews and raisins until they become golden brown
  • Grind the sooji that has cooled down with a blender to make it a fine paste. Transfer the fine sooji to a large bowl, and add the fried cashew nuts to it
  • Grind cardamom seeds in a blender and mix it in the sooji and nuts mixture
  • For garnishing purpose you can save some cashews
  • Add 3 tablespoons of warm melted ghee and 1-2 tablespoon of milk and mix well the entire mixture
